Biography: Céline Dion was born on the 30th of March in 1968 in a village names Charlemagne in Montreal, Canada, The official language there is French. She is the last child born in a family of fourteen. Her father's name is Adhémar Dion and her mother' name is Therese Tanguy . They had a business there called “le vieux baril” which means (THE OLD BARREL). It was where the family members formed a group called “ A DION ET SON ENSEMBLE” meaning a Dion and it's Units. She has also other brothers and sisters who they formed independent groups. As a teenager, she used to listen to a variety of songs such as: Janis Franklin, Jimmy Hendrix, the Beatles, and Aretha .
Franklin, the doors, Barbara Streisand and other popular singers. Those were her favorite 2 singers. She loves music and she began performing at the” THE OLD BARREL”. At the age of five, she sang at the marriage of her brother Michel and then decided to become a singer.
CAREER: In 1981, the French songwriter Eddy Marnay wrote “LA VOIX DU BON DIEU”(THE VOICE OF GOD) for her. Her wrote the music and the lyrcs. And introduced her in France. It was the first time she had created the music for one of these songs. When he heard the demo tape Céline had sent to Rene Angelil, Mr. Marnay said “C'EST LA VOIX DU BON DIEU”(IT'S GOD'S VOICE), hence the name of the song and the album. On June 19th, she began her career by a guest appearance on the most watched talk show in Quebec then, hosted by Michel Jasmin. She sung “ LA VOIX DU BON DIEU”. At the beginning of December, a Christmas album was also launched called Céline chante Noel (CELINE SINGS CHRISTMAS). By late 1982 she released another album, “TELLEMENT J'AI D'AMOUR” (I HAVE SO MUCH LOVE). A first single was launched in France, patronized by the “Pathe-Marconi Corporation. In October, she won the gold medal from the word popular song festival in Tokyo and the musician's prize as well. She sang “TELLEMENT J'AI D'AMOUR”(I HAVE SO MUCH LOVE FOR YOU), in front of 115 million TV viewers. She represented France,
with the song from Eddy Marnay. There were 1907 contests, and 30 finalists; the finals took place in front of 12,000 people. When she returned home, she was welcomed at the airport by many fans and the premier of Quebec (Mr. René leversque). In November, she was part of a special benefit show for Quebec air (an airline company). The 9,000 people in the forum (in Montreal) gave her an ovation even before she began to sing.
Favorite: My favorites are: Let's talk about love; my heat will go on, love can move mountain, the power of love, s'il suffisait d'aimer, sous le vent. Those are the songs that I really like from Céline Dion's album. Although, there are more which I can't recall.
